Modality - Fixed. Second Sign of Spring Element -
Earth.
The first Earth sign we encounter in the Zodiac is Taurus, which is the
Bull. Taurus represents the Earth in Spring, when the Sun shines in the sphere
of influence of Taurus, from late April into May. It is the Earth at its most
fertile.
Taurus represents the potential of the seed that is planted in
the Spring. It is later harvested in Fall during the sister Earth sign of Virgo.
Capricorn completes the Triad of Earth as the Earth in Winter, when it is wise
to put aside some of the abundance of Fall in anticipation of the lean times
found during Winter. The forward-thinking action associated with Capricorn are
characteristic of all the Cardinal signs.
However, Taurus is a Fixed
sign, and among the four fixed signs (one in each element) Taurus seems to be
the MOST fixed. Here we mean stubborn, steadfast, persevering, persistent, and
dedicated to the purpose or task at hand. Taurus must have tranquility, above
all else.
Material
posessions and money are valued by many Taureans, but nothing must disturb their
inner harmony for long, or the offending object will be subject to a tremendous
explosion of anger and rage which is inherent in all those with Taurus
prominent.
