Arthur J. Burks

Arthur J. Burks, author of hundreds of pulp
stories: "I've no patience with writers and would-be writers
who don't write. Anybody can write. Those with the urge don't,
simply because they are too lazy. With bosses over them they
would industriously earn a salary. Without bosses, most of
them lack the force to boss themselves into four hundred a
week, which isn't too much for a writer to make if he works
seven hours a day--and takes Friday, Saturday and Sunday off
for the weekend. With most writers, the weekends never
end." |
